I don’t know what there is to say. I’m older. I got some awesome stuff. I went on a treasure hunt. Enjoy some pictures from the event :) . I’ll have more info on a few of these items when I get a chance.

Kerry got me a huge BBQ, this thing rocks like you wouldn’t believe!

My parents got me a new desk chair, but sent me on a treasure hunt to find it first.

Thunderstorm Remixed

leave a comment

Jumpcut was bought by Yahoo! and eventually shut down. Unfortunately the video was lost.

Since I’ve slowly been moving pictures and video’s off my site, and on to Flickr and Jumpcut respectively, I’ve been going back to a lot of old posts and revisiting history that, more often than not, I’ve forgotten.

Pairing that with new features and personal abilities that I didn’t have ‘back in the day’, sometimes I feel the need to 1-up myself. This time, I took the VERY boring video of lighting I shot in 2005, and “remixed” it, using Jumpcut’s built in video editor.

Its still not going to win my any awards, but I had fun making it and its a whole lot more entertaining than it was before. So I invite you to view the new remixed version of an old post.

One of the Circles of Hell …

one comment

… was under our kitchen sink.

Alright, so this doesn’t nothing to break the stereotype that guys living together don’t clean anything, but its worth sharing anyway. Generally I think Nick, Steve and I are pretty clean guys. We keep the fridge, bathrooms, pantry and other commonly overlooked areas clean.

This evening though, Steve and I decided to tackle an area we knew needed lots and lots of TLC. Turns out it needed more than we expected.

After removing all the cleaning products, light bulbs, trash bags and other cans, boxes and bottles of domesticity from under the sink, we revealed something grave. Apparently, the “small drip” that we knew about under the sink, was more than a “small drip”. At least enough to turn the stack of paper bags into roughly the consistency, smell and color of runny baby shit.

Steve donned a Wonder Bread bag as a glove, and scoped the bags out. The rest, is YouTube history.

Universal Studios, Hollywood

[fa:p:a=6-16-universal-studios,id=562488893,j=l,s=s,l=i]The last day of our trip. We got up in plenty of time to make it to the park when it opened, we even got front row parking. Kerry and I have both been to Universal Studios, but its been about 5 years for both of us, so it was still a lot of fun. As is customary with most people, we did the Backlot Tour first. Its changed a bit since the last time I went. The “Broken Bridge” isn’t used anymore (which is ok, since it was lame anyway). And a few new things are added. They kept the airplane crash set from War of the Worlds, and its pretty amazing to see it, since it was such a strong scene in the movie (you can see it here, as the background to the website). The other thing they added was a Fast and the Furious special Effects demo, in which they demonstrate how to blow up two cars. While the pictures I took are cool, they don’t really do the demonstration any justice, so check out this video that somebody else took on their trip:

Kerry and I rode and watched just about everything at the park, but we didn’t waste much time because we wanted to try to make it back to the Springbok bar again and get that meal we had been craving. So we left Universal and drove back up 101 to Van Nuys and this time we were able to get a nice table and some food. Kerry had a Boerewors Sandwich (pronoced Bord-a-vors, its a traditional South African all-beef sausage), and I had Freestate Braai Pack (Braai meaning BBQ) which was boerewors, two lamb chops and a 5 ounce Filet Mignon. I really enjoyed it, especially seeing the excitement on Kerry’s face to be able to have food and drink from home again (did I mention she drank 3 Savanna Dry’s and a Castle Lager, all made in SA).

[fa:p:a=6-16-universal-studios,id=562502483,j=r,s=s,l=p]We made a drive after eating to go see some of Hollywood, but we out of cash, and even change to park and the sun was setting so all we really did was drive around on Hollywood Blvd, and Sunset Blvd and then we explored the tiny roads that go up the mountain that the Hollywood sign is on (trying to get a closer look at the sign). We didn’t make it there before the sun set, and there are no lights on the Hollywood sign, so I had to expose the picture heavily for it to come out so excuse the grain (Yes, I took that picture while it was dark out… isn’t Photoshop wonderfull)

Chris Scott, long time buddy, climbing aficionado, computer nerd (no matter what he says, his username chalkbag225 is a combination of the obvious climbing refrence, and the not so obvious computer/engineering refrence: 225 is the alt code for Beta, ß), engineering student and all around great guy took the time to put together a 20 minute video of a climb that him and his climbing buddy Roy did a few years back. I thought it was pretty cool; in particular I love the soundtrack.

I even went as far as to create a Rhapsody play list with everything except the tool songs (which aren’t on rhapsody) and publish it. If you are interested in giving it a listen on its own, check it out here.

Otherwise, I would highly recommend taking a little bit of time and checking out the video on Google.
If you are a fan of the show Survivor Man, these two parts ( part 1part 2 ) reminded me of that show.
